Screen on Apple Powerbook G4 is not working at all, but the laptop is. How do I go about fixing it?

The screen does not come on at all when powered up, although the operating system works completely fine. You can run it through an external monitor, but how do I go about fixing the screen on the laptop? Advice welcomed.

It can possibly be an electrical problem or the whole LCD can be busted.

Go to ifixit.com and you can get complete instructions on how to fix your machine although for troubleshooting you’re pretty much reduced to “easter egging.”

With the laptop turned on, is there any image at all, ie, black on black outlines? If so then it’s just your backlight and possibly the electrical (inverter) component, these are cheaper to fix than the whole screen. For a whole screen on a G4, you may be better off just getting a new laptop and repurposing the G4 into a headless server or similar.
